Dear Parents,

Well another week has flown by with the children working hard and enjoying being together. I hope we don’t have to ask anybody to isolate but we continue to plan just in case. Over the next few weeks you should receive a QR code this is to enable you and your child to access See Saw. This is a great way for your child to be able to share any work they do at home whilst in isolation with us and for the teachers to be able to give them feedback on it.

Whilst thinking about Covid I am sure you are all aware that Glossop has been put in Tier 2, I know the information about what this means has been hard to pin down so here are some headlines. This does not change what we are doing in school but it does change what you can do at home. You cannot meet with anyone from outside your household indoors, so those sleep overs and playing at each other’s houses or meeting up for tea out has to stop. The exceptions include for childcare including informal childcare. Childminders can still operate as normal and you can have an arrangement with one other family to care for each other’s children, the guidance is clear that it is not one family one day and a different family another day – sorry. Someone who lives with no other adult can still be part of a bubble with another household. You can still meet outside as long as you obey the rule of 6. People are asked to work from home if they can. I hope this helps and the new rules do not cause you any major headaches.

On Wednesday 21st October, we are asking the children to bring in a donation for Glossop Food Bank this can be tins, dried food or toiletries. We are also for the first time supporting Social Box Biz. SocialBox.Biz, a social enterprise, supplies free reused laptops with open source software to the homeless, refugees and the elderly. It was founded by a former child refugee who was given an old used laptop. SocialBox.Biz has had a surge in requests for the laptops but unfortunately has not been able to meet the increased demand. If you have an old but usable laptop and charger which you are happy to donate please send it into school.

Hopefully on Monday you will get the link to your zoom parents meeting on Friday 23rd, we have tried to accommodate everyone’s wishes.

I am attaching a letter about private speech and drama lessons held at school.

Stay happy and healthy
