Dear Parents,

Last Friday the gymnastics squad had a great time at the competition, well done to all of them.

This week there have been three important national weeks we have been celebrating; School Meals, Parliament and Anti Bullying.

For school meals week we were chosen to be Derbyshire’s representative school. Mrs Howe and her team did us proud and produced the usual delicious dinner. We were visited by council and regional big wigs. We also had the LACA roadshow with food tastings, games and science demonstrations. It was a wonderful event and the children were brilliant.

For Anti-Bullying week we have revisited what bullying is, we often have to reassure children that it is not falling out or not getting on with somebody but something much more serious. We watched Inside Out and used it to spark discussion. As ever I was very impressed by our children’s ability to think deeply about issues.

For Parliament week we have tried to get to grips with our electoral system. We also held a debate with some children from Hague Barr joining us. The children wrestled with the subject and many children who thought they would not be able to speak found themselves on their feet joining in.

Tomorrow is Children in Need Day. The children can come into school in non-uniform for a donation to Children in Need. Please remember that the children will need to do all the usual things in school so whatever they wear needs to enable them to do this.

Tomorrow is also Year 4 Sleep Over – We have some very excited Y4s, this is one of the most popular events of our school calendar.

There is a PTA meeting at 3.30 on Tuesday 20th November in the Library. Please come along if you can.

On Thursday 22nd November the Year 5s are attending a dance morning at Glossopdale. The childen are asked to meet Mr Warburton outside Glossopdale School between 9-9.15. If you have any problems with this please contact us.

The Osprey class are leading our assembly this Friday, next Friday 23rd Harriers will be leading it. Do join us if you can.

On Sunday 18th November the Monton Family are doing a walk for ‘Bliss’ starting a 5pm. If you are interested in sponsoring them or taking part please contact Sarah on 07976197787

Clubs: There will be no cookery club on Tuesday 20th November and no KS1 club on Monday 26th November.

The choir have been asked to sing at St Luke’s Church Carol service on 16th December 6pm and in Howard Square on 20th December at 6.30pm. Please put these dates in your diary. More details will follow.
