Dear Parents,

Well Easter is almost here and the weather is getting better and better.

Well done to all the children in Kites and Harriers for their wonderful production, I will never be able to think of Jack and the beanstalk again without talking animals and bad breath.

The children in Merlins have been very busy preparing the Easter Service. I do hope you can join us tomorrow in church.  The service will start as soon as we have walked the school over to church so around 9.20.

A date for the diary – The parents of the children in Kestrels are invited to come into school on the afternoon of Tuesday 14th May for the children to share their learning journeys with them 2-4pm.

The lovely Ed who helps us with choir and the lovely Nicole who teaches piano have started a choir Pennine Voices. This is a Glossop based choir for everyone aged 10-18 with no auditions.  They will be rehearsing on Thursdays 8-9 at Simmondley Primary School.  The first rehearsal is on Thursday 9th May.  If your child would be interested in joining you can register online at penninevoices.com or phone 07491992380

Dear Parents,

A fabulous time was had by all at Whitby.  The children all came back so proud of themselves for having done it.

We received some very exciting news this week; Mrs Howe has been nominated for a prestigious national award, unit manager of the year.  She is one of four finalists and will be going to an awards dinner in a big London Hotel.  We are all so proud of her.

Talking of cooking if you see yourself as good cook there is a new competition organised by Derbyshire for parents, grandparents and carers.  You have to plan and cook a 2 course meal suitable for serving in a primary school.  Registration packs are available at www.myschoollunch.co.uk/derbyshire . You could win a coking kit for school.

Tomorrow all the children in Key stage 2 will be taking part in House Netball and Football so they need to have their PE kits in school.

Next week is parents evening on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Friday 12th we are holding our Easter Service in St Luke’s Church at about 9.20, or when we have walked the children across. Do join us if you can.

On Thursday 11th April it is the grand Easter Raffle and afternoon tea.  On that afternoon you are invited to come to school for a drink and cake.  The children are asked to bring in £1 for which they get a drink and a cake.   Please can you return any sold or unsold raffle tickets as soon as possible.  The deadline for sold tickets is 9.4.19.  In order for the afternoon tea to happen we need volunteers to bake cakes and to help on the day.  If you could bake and or help please contact Tim Barnett or the school office.

I have been approached by Esther Brock who has offered to run a forest school club the information is below.

We are excited to announce we will be running an After school Forest School Club (suitable for all year groups) led by Inside Out Forest School on Thursdays 3:30pm- 5pm starting after Easter.

Cost: £4 a session

All sessions must be blocked booked for the 10 week course via our website www.insideoutforestschool@gmail.com  search under ‘children’
A consent form will also be attached to the web page to print out, fill in and bring on the first session or emailed to Esther.

Sessions will be mainly based in the sensory garden area and mini field. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Children can change in to more suitable clothing or wear school uniform. The session will include games, nature arts and crafts, bush craft skills, campfire cooking, mindfulness in nature and lots more. We will have a shelter outside in case of rainy downpours.

If you’re interested, there are only limited spaces. The booking system will open on Mon 8th April and the first session will be Thursday 2nd May running through until July 11th.
