Dear Parents & Carers,

I hope you all had a good Easter.  It has been lovely to welcome the children back into school.

I hope you have all seen the clubs letter I sent out earlier in the week.  I realise that in fact Science and Rugby Clubs cannot start until the week after.  Science Club will start on Wednesday 3rd and Rugby club on Thursday 4th May. Sorry for causing confusion.

As you will be aware we are welcoming Mr Millinson into school to carry out our SIAMS inspection on Tuesday.  We are looking forward to sharing our lovely children’s achievements with him and helping him understand us as a church school.

I am attaching information from Glossop Music Festival about their concert for children Musical Beasts.  It looks very exciting.

Swimming starts next week for the Y1s they come to school as normal and walk up in time for their lesson at 9.30.

I am attaching the dates for this term.  As ever dates may change so do keep an eye on the newsletter.

Dear Parents & Carers,

I cannot believe that we have almost reached the end of term and what a fabulous end of term it has been.

  • The chicks are still causing huge excitement and interest in living things. The amount of learning has been amazing.
  • The PTA are selling egg cups and raffle tickets. I cannot wait to see what decorations the children come up with.
  • Not only that the PTA ran a much enjoyed quiz on Friday. I feel so disappointed that I was not able to be there.  Not only was fun had £500 was raised.
  • The Year 5s are having a wonderful time in Whitby. They have been on a town trail, seen a seal and enjoyed each other’s company.
  • The children in Kites and Harriers put on an amazing production. I was blown away by the quality of their singing.  They all got into role and acted so well.  We are all very proud of them.
  • I am so proud of the touch rugby team who played on Monday, they embodied good sportsmanship. They realised that one of the smaller local schools did not have enough players so subbed in for them with no fuss.  They got through to the final which was a draw and instantly offered the win to the other team who had beaten them in the earlier round robin rounds.  They enjoyed representing school, played really well and showed everyone how to be competitive but sporting.  They are a true credit to the school and to you.

I said it was a fantastic end to the term.  Which will be rounded off with the Easter Service in church at about 9.15 on Friday.

The children have all been planning healthy school lunches and our lovely school cook Mrs Lomas has agreed to cook the meals they have planned instead of those planned by the catering team.  The first Thursday back after Easter we will be having Kites menu which is nuggets or meatballs with chips, peas and beans followed by apple crumble and custard.

Paper copies of the new dinner menu are coming home. I am also attaching an electronic version of the new menu.

Whitfield Parish are organising an Easter peg hunt on Saturday.  Flyer attached.

I hope you all have a lovely Easter.  See you all back on Monday 17th April

20.3.23

Dear Parents & Carers,

Well this has been an exciting week.  On Monday most of the children in Merlins performed on stage at the Buxton Opera House as part of a dance festival.  It was a lovely evening and the children did themselves proud.  Then on Wednesday the chicks started hatching!  The children across school are enjoying watching the chicks emerge from their shells and start to grow.

We are all looking forward to seeing the children in Kites and Harriers perform on Monday and Tuesday.  Please can the children come back to school to get ready by 6.10.  Doors will open to let them and the audience in at 6.00.  If you are coming to a performance, please remember your ticket.

Remember clubs have now finished.  New club’s letters will go out after Easter.

On Wednesday 29th March the Eagles are going to Whitby.  The coach is picking up from school at around 8.45.  Drop off on that morning is going to be tricky.  Please could you park further away from school and walk to try and alleviate the potential chaos.

I am receiving complaints about the parking around school with people blocking driveways and parking on road junctions.  I know everyone wants to park as close to school as possible but it is making drop off and pick up time more dangerous than they need to be.

The PTA are organising a design an egg cup competition and a virtual duck race.  Please see the attached poster for more details about these exciting events.

The PTA quiz night is proving to be very popular with only a few tickets remaining for Friday night.  If you haven’t got your tickets yet don’t delay.

The Ospreys are leading our collective worship on Friday.  As ever it starts just after 9am.  I will text out the codeword tomorrow morning.

GAST are carrying out a travel survey to try and find solutions to the traffic problems in Glossop.  Please take the time to fill it in, the details are below.

Dear Parents & Carers,

I am so sorry that school had to be closed on Friday due to snow it was just impossible to get staff into Glossop and I was concerned about the children’s safety getting to school.  From what the children have said they all enjoyed spending time in the snow.

On Friday 17th of March Merlin’s will be leading our Collective Worship.  It will start just after 9am and I will send out the code word that morning.  It will be Osprey’s turn on Friday 24th March.

Next Monday 20th the Year 6 children are performing as part of the dance festival at Buxton Opera House.  I am sure they are going to do an amazing job.

Remember there are parent’s maths workshops next week.  Year 2 parents’ meeting is on Tuesday 21st at 2pm.  Year 1 parents’ meeting is on Wednesday 22nd again at 2pm.

I am sorry I have managed to confuse everyone including myself; just to clarify, the PTA EGM will be held after school on Wednesday the 22nd. An agenda was sent out last week and if you have any questions, please do get in touch. stlukesptaglossop@gmail.com.  If the weather is OK we will hold this in the Gazeebo so you won’t even have to come into the building.

Tickets are moving for the PTA quiz night on Friday 24th March so drop us an email to book your spot! Friends and family are welcome so book with your own team in place, or book on your own and we’ll put you in a team on the night! Tickets are limited so book early.

School run after school clubs will finish for this term on Friday 24th March.  Next week will be the last week of clubs.

On Wednesday 29th March the Eagles are going to Whitby.  The coach is picking up from school at around 8.45.  Drop off on that morning is going to be tricky.  Please could you park further away from school and walk to try and alleviate the potential chaos.

We have sent letters home to the parents of children in Kites and Harriers about tickets for their production on Monday 27th & Tuesday 28th.  If you have not returned your slip yet please can you return it by Tuesday 21st at the latest so we can allocate tickets.

Remember if you want to order class photos through school rather than online they have to be returned by next Wednesday 22nd March.

Stay happy and healthy
