Dear Parents,

We have been having a lovely time during Take One Picture Week exploring the many channels the picture Mr & Mrs Andrews takes us. I am looking forward to Friday afternoon when the children will be sharing some of what they have done. If you would like to join us at 2pm feel free.

You can tell it is walk to school week this week because it has been so wet! If you haven’t yet supported this event by walking at least part of the journey to school please try to.

The Osprey Class had a good time at the Summer Sports Festival on Friday. Thank you to St Philip Howard School for organising it.

The Pamper Night went well. There was a lovely atmosphere. The hall was decorated so well with very artistic touches. Thank you to everyone who helped with this.

The children who went to the sporting event at Buxton Dome yesterday had a great time. They won the award for the ‘Spirit of The Games’. Well done to all of them, I know the staff were very proud of them.

It is Plant Sale Pick up day today so make sure you collect any plants you have ordered.

We finish on Friday for half term. The children will return to school on Thursday 4th June. We will attempt to have sports day on Friday 5th June at 10am.

HELP we are very short of Friday toast making volunteers. If you might have an hour free on a Friday morning to make toast we need you to volunteer. If we do not get some more people able to be on the rota we may have to cancel toast.

Dinner money for next half term is £72.15. Can I remind you that dinner money must be paid in advance. If you are in arrears please settle your bill.

I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday.

Dear Parents,
What a week we have had. On Friday the choir performed beautifully at the Choir Festival and gained a trophy for being the most innovative choir. Well done to all of them. It was a long tiring afternoon but they rose to the occasion.

On Sunday three children went to London to be interviewed live on BBC1. They did so well. We were treated like celebrities which just made everyone more nervous! Once the interview was over we were able to relax and look at all the things that were going on including the veteran’s parade and the flyby of spitfires and The Red Arrows.

The Year 6 children have been sitting their SATs tests this week but will finish today. I have been very impressed with the positive attitude they have displayed and their determination to do well.
The Harrier’s did some work to prepare for the BBC Ten Pieces Concert they are going to on Friday 19th June. Letters about this will follow.

Yesterday the tag rugby team took part in the Glossop tournament and played well. Well done to them.

I am sorry I had to cancel Sports Day but the forecast on Monday was terrible. I know it now looks like a lovely sunny day but a decision needed to be made. We will try again on Friday 5th June at 10am.

We are all looking forward to Kestrel’s leading our Assembly tomorrow at about 9.00. Do join us.

Next Week is Take One Picture Week, when we base our work around a picture from The National Gallery collection. It is a week we all look forward to each year. There will be an assembly on Friday 22nd May at 2pm to share our work, you are very welcome to join us. Because of this there will be no assembly in the morning.

On Monday 18th the Harriers will be walking to the Library for a talk from the Dog’s Trust.

Remember it is Pamper Night tomorrow. I hope you are all coming to be pampered.

We finish for half term on Friday 22nd May. School reopens for the children on Thursday 4th June.

Dear Parents,

The Merlin’s had an amazing time meeting Austin Byrne on Tuesday. What an inspiring man. He was a gunner in the Merchant Navy in World War Two. His ship was torpedoed 100 miles north of the Russian Coast. He survived four days in a small boat in arctic conditions and was eventually rescued by the Russian costal service. Only he and one other man in the boat survived with all their limbs, the others all succumbed to frost bite. The children have worked with Adam Robertson to combine their interview with archive footage and some of their own footage to create a film. If you would like to hear more about this project remember to tune in to the BBC on Sunday from 11.30ish to catch our children talking about what they have done.

The choir are sounding lovely and I am really looking forward to the choir festival on Friday. Remember if you are not able to come to the concert 3.30 – 5.30 at Glossopdale, Glossop Site please pick your children up from there.

Tag Rugby had to be cancelled yesterday because of the rain. It has been rescheduled for next Wednesday 13th May. If your child is in the team and will not now be able to play please let us know as soon as possible.

The weather is looking good for Sports Day a week today (Thursday 14th), only light showers are forecast. You never know this might be the year Sports Day doesn’t have to be postponed! The children need to have their PE kit in school. We will provide everything else they need including drinks. You are invited to join us for a 1.30 start.

Kestrels are leading our assembly on Friday 15th please join us if you can.

The Ospreys will be walking to St Philip Howard School on Friday 15th for a summer Sports Festival. They will be leaving school at 9.00. Please send them to school in their PE kit (we will send them home in it after sports day).

Friday 15th is also the night of the PTA Pamper Night. If you have not yet got your ticket and booked your treatments you need to do so soon or else you might be disappointed.

The week beginning 18th May is Walk to School Week so look out your rain coats so you are ready for this.

On Tuesday 19th May all the staff are at a meeting so after school clubs will be cancelled. PAS will still be on.
