Dear Parents,

How are you all?  I hope you are beginning to feel a little more hopeful as there is a hint of spring in the air.

The children in school have been really concerned about what is happening in Ukraine and wanted to do something to help the refugees.  The children in Eagles have been proactive and have organised a fund raising event.  On Friday 18th March they have planned a ‘Break 5 Rules Day’.  On that day the children can choose to break any or all of the rules below, for every rule they break they need to donate at least 50p.  The rules they can break are:

  • Sensible hair (the children can have wacky hair / accessories)
  • School shirt / jumper (the children can wear what they want)
  • School trousers, skirts shoes etc (the children can wear what they want)
  • Only water in drinks bottles (the children can have squash in their bottles)
  • Healthy snacks (the children can bring in an unhealthy snack)

If children want to bring in a larger donation we will make sure it goes in the refugee fund, the children wanted me to make that clear.

We are running low on spare underwear for when those little accidents happen. If you have any your child has grown out of that we could have we would be very grateful.  We need lots of different sizes.

You have been sent a copy of the contact information we hold for your child if you haven’t checked, signed and returned it yet please can you as soon as possible.

The Governors have asked me to share the information below.  I would really encourage you to complete the survey when it comes out.

I’d like to draw your attention to a parent survey the school governors are sending out.  They are really interested in hearing your views on the school, as this will help guide them in their work.  This survey will be coming out by email very soon and they’d be grateful if each parent could find 10 minutes to complete.  Understanding your views of what we do well and what we can improve will really help us all.  Many thanks!

School catering have asked me to share a link to their school survey as well https://forms.office.com/r/0t5tbExrgJ

Mel has asked me to remind you that the speech and drama sessions for Reception Year1 and Year 2 start on Friday and there are still a few places.

Stay happy and healthy

Dear Parents,

Happy World Book Day.  Your children should be bringing home a world book day voucher today.  This voucher can be used in any bookshop either to buy one of the special World Book Day Books or to put towards another book.  I know Bay Tree Books have got a good stock of the World Book Day Books in.  They are our local independent bookshop and are always keen to promote reading.

The older children had an amazing time at the Halle concert yesterday.  They were so excited to be going on a trip and returned buzzing about the experience.  I also was told so many great things about their behaviour.  I am very proud of them.

You have been sent home with the children a consent form for filming.  The Reese Centre from The University of Oxford is making a film about how to support children in schools.  They want to film some background shots here tomorrow the 4th March.  I don’t know who will get into shot at the moment so I have sent forms to everyone.  If you haven’t returned the form and you are happy for your child to be in shot; please can you return the form by tomorrow morning.

I sent you details of the Glossop Fairtrade competition.  Remember to return any entries to school by 11th March.

Monday is class photo day so best bib and tucker time.

The children in Year 6 are taking part in the Dance Festival at Buxton Opera House on 21st March.  This is one of those opportunities where we see children who were unsure at the beginning face the challenge and grow in confidence.  If you haven’t returned the commitment slip yet; please can you do so this week.

Stay happy and healthy
