Dear Parents & Carers,

Well this has been an exciting week.  On Monday most of the children in Merlins performed on stage at the Buxton Opera House as part of a dance festival.  It was a lovely evening and the children did themselves proud.  Then on Wednesday the chicks started hatching!  The children across school are enjoying watching the chicks emerge from their shells and start to grow.

We are all looking forward to seeing the children in Kites and Harriers perform on Monday and Tuesday.  Please can the children come back to school to get ready by 6.10.  Doors will open to let them and the audience in at 6.00.  If you are coming to a performance, please remember your ticket.

Remember clubs have now finished.  New club’s letters will go out after Easter.

On Wednesday 29th March the Eagles are going to Whitby.  The coach is picking up from school at around 8.45.  Drop off on that morning is going to be tricky.  Please could you park further away from school and walk to try and alleviate the potential chaos.

I am receiving complaints about the parking around school with people blocking driveways and parking on road junctions.  I know everyone wants to park as close to school as possible but it is making drop off and pick up time more dangerous than they need to be.

The PTA are organising a design an egg cup competition and a virtual duck race.  Please see the attached poster for more details about these exciting events.

The PTA quiz night is proving to be very popular with only a few tickets remaining for Friday night.  If you haven’t got your tickets yet don’t delay.

The Ospreys are leading our collective worship on Friday.  As ever it starts just after 9am.  I will text out the codeword tomorrow morning.

GAST are carrying out a travel survey to try and find solutions to the traffic problems in Glossop.  Please take the time to fill it in, the details are below.

Dear Parents & Carers,

I am so sorry that school had to be closed on Friday due to snow it was just impossible to get staff into Glossop and I was concerned about the children’s safety getting to school.  From what the children have said they all enjoyed spending time in the snow.

On Friday 17th of March Merlin’s will be leading our Collective Worship.  It will start just after 9am and I will send out the code word that morning.  It will be Osprey’s turn on Friday 24th March.

Next Monday 20th the Year 6 children are performing as part of the dance festival at Buxton Opera House.  I am sure they are going to do an amazing job.

Remember there are parent’s maths workshops next week.  Year 2 parents’ meeting is on Tuesday 21st at 2pm.  Year 1 parents’ meeting is on Wednesday 22nd again at 2pm.

I am sorry I have managed to confuse everyone including myself; just to clarify, the PTA EGM will be held after school on Wednesday the 22nd. An agenda was sent out last week and if you have any questions, please do get in touch. stlukesptaglossop@gmail.com.  If the weather is OK we will hold this in the Gazeebo so you won’t even have to come into the building.

Tickets are moving for the PTA quiz night on Friday 24th March so drop us an email to book your spot! Friends and family are welcome so book with your own team in place, or book on your own and we’ll put you in a team on the night! Tickets are limited so book early.

School run after school clubs will finish for this term on Friday 24th March.  Next week will be the last week of clubs.

On Wednesday 29th March the Eagles are going to Whitby.  The coach is picking up from school at around 8.45.  Drop off on that morning is going to be tricky.  Please could you park further away from school and walk to try and alleviate the potential chaos.

We have sent letters home to the parents of children in Kites and Harriers about tickets for their production on Monday 27th & Tuesday 28th.  If you have not returned your slip yet please can you return it by Tuesday 21st at the latest so we can allocate tickets.

Remember if you want to order class photos through school rather than online they have to be returned by next Wednesday 22nd March.

Stay happy and healthy

Dear Parents & Carers,

Well the weather has turned hasn’t it.  Lots of opportunities to learn about ice and snow.  Spring will be on its way soon I am sure after all British summer Time starts in a couple of weeks.

On Friday 10th of March Kestrels will be leading our Collective Worship.  It will start just after 9am and I will send out the code word that morning.  It will be Merlins’ turn on Friday 17th March.

There is a meeting for the parents of the children going to Whitby on 13th March at 5.30.  The link for this meeting has been sent out.

On Monday 20th March the Merlins will be performing at Buxton Opera House as part of the dance festival.  They will need to take with them a packed tea.  We have been told that there is a child who is extremely allergic to egg also performing.  We have been asked to make sure that none of our children bring anything like egg sandwiches, frittata, mayonnaise on sandwiches.  We have been told that cake is ok.  Thank you for complying with this and making sure this child is kept safe.

On Wednesday 22nd of March the children in Eagles will be going to Glossopdale to watch a performance of Mary Poppins.

A reminder that there will be a PTA EGM on 22nd March to elect a treasurer.  This will be a short meeting immediately after school please stay if you can.

There is a Special Educational Needs Support Group meeting at The Vineyard.  I am attaching some information about it.

Dear Parents & Carers,

Thank you to everyone who supported the break 5 rules day.

The children will be bringing home a World Book Day book token today.  I really look forward to hearing about the books everyone has got with them.

I have already seen some wonderful photos of your children reading in surprising places and I look forward to seeing more!

On Friday 3rd of March Eagles will be leading our Collective Worship.  It will start just after 9am and I will send out the code word that morning.  It will be Kestrels’ turn on Friday 10th March.

Mrs Eltringham is going to be running some Maths Workshops for parents of children in Key Stage 1.  These will happen during the school day as part of the time will be spent doing maths activities with your children.  The workshops will be:

2pm on 21st March for Y2 Parents

2pm on 22nd March for Y1 Parents

2pm on 30th March for Reception Parents

Tomorrow the whole school will be working on the NSPCC ‘Pants Project’.  This is a project to help the children stay safe by following the simple rule that anything in the part of their body covered by their pants is personal and nobody should touch that area without permission.  It also encourages them to speak out and stay safe if something happens that makes them feel uncomfortable.  It is done very sensitively and supportively.  The NSPCC website has lots of information for parents to help you keep your children safe I would recommend looking at it.

Remember if your child wants to enter the Fairtrade Competition the entries need to be in school by 10th March.

There is a PTA quiz night for parents coming up on Friday 24th March pop it in your diary.  More details to follow.

A huge thank you for all his work goes out to Mr Barnett who after a number of years has stepped down as PTA treasurer.  This means there is a vacancy.  If you think you might be interested in taking up the role do speak to any of the PTA representatives in the playground to find out more.

I have been informed that people are still parking in the private carpark belonging to the flats across from school.  This is not a public carpark and should not be used by parents dropping off and picking up, just like you would not park on someone’s drive.  Please park respectfully.
