Dear Parents,

Well this has been a funny old week with Monday making everything feel different.  I am not sure what day I am on.

Some of the children in Key Stage 2 went to a Rugby Megafest at Glossop Rugby Club.  They all enjoyed it.  Thank you to all the people that made it possible.

You should have received nomination papers for the post of parent governor.  If you did not receive them please let us know.

Tonight at 7pm Mrs Hillier is running a phonics workshop online for parents of children in Kestrels and Peregrines.

Tomorrow is the Harvest Festival.  We are collecting food for Glossop Food Bank.  If your child is able to bring in dried or tinned food it would be gratefully accepted.

On Monday the children in Year 6 go to Whitehall for their residential.

Wednesday 28th is our bags to school collection.  If you can bag up and bring old clothes, textiles and shoes it helps raise money for school.  You can use any bag.

Friday 30th is our sculpture park and music festival.  Next week the children will be making sculptures for you to see.  To entertain you as you visit our sculpture park some parents will be playing.  Please do stay with your children after school to enjoy this.

Glossop Jog is fast approaching.  It is on Sunday 9th October.  If your child would like to take part please let us know.

Emma (Cello Teacher) came into assembly yesterday she has spaces for y3-y6 children who  would like to learn to play, if anyone would like the details pop to the office.

The PTA meeting on Tuesday was well attended, thank you to everyone who came.  Everyone is a member of the PTA and your support of school is much appreciated.  There is a message from Chika Jones the new Chair of the PTA attached.

St Luke’s CE Primary School Newsletter

Dear Parents,

I am delighted to be able to tell you that school has been awarded Artsmark Platinum.  This is the highest award the Arts Council can award a school in recognition of the work they do in the arts.  We are incredibly proud to receive it.

Today is meet and greet the teachers after school 3.30-4.  Once we have seen the children out to their parents, you are welcome to come into the classrooms with your children to see where they are working this year and meet their teacher with more time than at drop off time.

Monday is a Bank Holiday because it is the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.  School is closed.

Due to school being closed on Monday Tuesday’s dinner is breaded chicken or cheesy bean enchilada.

Tuesday 20th the PTA AGM and meeting is being held in school at 7pm.  I do hope as many people as possible will attend as you are all members of the PTA.

On Thursday 22nd swimming starts for Y6 & Y2.  Remember Y6 are meeting at the pool at 8.45.  If you have not returned your child’s forms yet please do so.

On Friday 23rd we are holding our Harvest Festival.  This year we are collecting food for Glossop food bank.  If possible, please can your child bring in a donation on Friday morning.  We are holding it in school so unfortunately there will not be space to invite you to join us.

On Monday 26th the very lucky Y6 children go to Whitehall.

On Wednesday 28th we are holding our bag to school collection.  Please bring to school on that morning any old textiles, shoes, clothes.  They will not accept old duvets.  They can be brought in any bags and put outside the office window.  This is a great way to reuse/recycle old clothes etc and raise money for school.

The sculpture park and music festival is fast approaching.  On Friday 30th September you are invited with your children to view our sculptures and listen to some of our talented musician parents.  The event will happen after school.

If your child is in Y5 and you have not returned your Whitby Letter please can you do so.

Remember if you want your child to receive the flu immunisation at school you need to register online.  We do not hold this information and cannot remind you that you haven’t done so yet.  Last year a number of parents were expecting us to remind them personally that they hadn’t registered their children; as we do not know who has and who hasn’t we cannot do this.

Stay happy and healthy
