St Luke’s CE Primary School Newsletter

28.4.22

Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a lovely break over the Easter Holiday.  I know the children did because a number of them had got so much into the holiday mode they didn’t want to come back.  They are all now back and settled which is lovely.

Welcome to our new Reception families who should be receiving this newsletter for the first time.  We are very pleased that you are joining our school family.

The after school clubs run by school have restarted which is great.  Thank you to all the staff who are giving up their time to run a club for the children.  Most days pick up will be from the main entrance, Monday is the busiest day so we are trying to find the best way to safely see the children out.  If the children are at Sports they can picked up from the playground, Drama from the hall door and gardening from the main entrance.

We are going to try opening up still further and invite you to join us for Collective Worship (Assembly).  If your child’s class is leading the collective worship on a Friday morning you are very welcome to join us.  I would ask that no more than two adults from a family come and that you wear masks.  The dates for these are on the attached dates list.

There are a number of exciting events planned for this term.  On Friday 27th May we are going to have a Jubilee Celebration Event combined with the PTA raffle and afternoon tea.  How I think it is going to work is that from 2.30 you are invited to join us whilst we are having a street (playground) party.  The PTA will be selling cake and drinks to the parents and the annual raffle will be drawn.  This is an evolving event so more details will follow.

The day after this is Glossop’s Victorian Weekend.  We are going to take part in the parade on Saturday 28th May, meeting at 10.30.  The theme of our parade is Victorian Protests so Suffragettes and Anti-Slavery marches.  With the children dressed in appropriate clothes and carrying placards etc.  I do hope your child will be able to join in the parade with us.  A sign up letter is coming out.

The Year 5s are involved with a jubilee sing at Buxton Opera House.  On Monday 13th June the children will be singing in a care home in Buxton and at the Opera House.  You are invited to the Opera House performance at 2pm. Here are the details:

Tickets are free, but booking is essential. You can book 2 tickets per child/per sibling group. Tickets can be booked via the Buxton Opera House website or by calling the Box Office on 01298 72190

I have attached dates for this term.

Stay happy and healthy
